“ Service and food is just excellent. The guy behind the counter who I also think is the owner just did an amazing job. He gave us meat and chicken to try was super helpfully in ordering and there wasn't anything he couldn't do food wise. He even did a little side of chicken for my daughter. The food was great the flavor was amazing if you haven't been here please check this place out ”
“ Borjstar has some solid vegan options. There's no denying that Gardena is lacking in plant-based options, so when I started hearing good things about this spot, I had to try it. I've since been back over 10+ times and very much recommend it to everyone. They aren't fully vegan, but my go-to vegan picks are the Falafel Wrap *pro-tip: add french fries inside* and the Fatoush salad. The food is great and always tastes freshly prepared. The staff is genuinely happy to see and feed you. 10/10 ”
“ First, let me give a massive shoutout to our guy, Ahmed. Ahmed greeted us with open arms (metaphorically speaking) and the world's biggest smile as soon as we entered. He made my wife and I feel like family right away. Ahmed, if you're reading this, know that you are the best in the business regarding service! Okay, the food. With shawarma in the name, we knew that it was going to be good. But my god. That sh** slapped. It was so scrumptious. Everything--the shawarma, the hummus, the pita, the Arabic salad, the sauces--was incredible. Mixed together, we had a stacked plate that sent us on an incredible and fulfilling trip to flavor-town. The food is Syrian-inspired, and you can tell that there is a lot of love put into each shawarma plate. I wish my wife and I lived closer. We'd eat here multiple times a week if we could! This is now, without a doubt, one of my favorite spots in the entire LA area. ”
“ Borjstar offers some superb halal chicken and beef shawarma, rotisserie chicken, chicken skewers, and falafel. Their chicken or beef shawarma wraps are delicious, packed full of thinly sliced meat, vegetables, and sauce. They also offer an amazing $10 combo with the wrap, fries, and a drink. Be sure to order on the phone or in person to get this deal. If you live in the South Bay, I definitely recommend you check them out ”
“ Slowly rotating piles of spit roasting meat. Who doesn't love the sight of that? Also, who knew Gardena has so many great places to eat? As a plate or in a wrap, great balance of roasted meaty goodness, creamy sauciness and zesty veg with an herbaceous finish. Breaking it down, the beef shawarma has the right balance of lean beef and fat to keep it plenty moist. The chicken version, while less fulfilling is still well seasoned good eats. The mendi rice a great foil. Extremely flavorful, loaded with aromatic spices including cumin, coriander, cardamom and turmeric that add so much flavor to the beef shawarma. Well made hummus with a nice puddle of peppery olive oil, good medley of zesty pickled veg. and muhammara bread (a type of unleavened flat bread). Adding the tahini sauce to the chicken plate adds great richness that elevates the entire plate. Fast, friendly and welcoming service. Efficient takeaway. Filling plates averaging $17, a great bargain. Multi visit worthy. ”
“ Place was closed for a few weeks, but they are back in business. Love getting the shawarma plates. The rotisserie chicken dinner is a great value. The wraps are a quick and easy on the go meal. Workers are nice. I remember coming in when they had a frozen ice cream machine and a worker took the time to make me a cup. This place is my go to Mediterranean food spot. ”
“ Walk in to a warm greeting and a sampler of their meats and rice. The owner wants you to try before you buy to make sure you like it, but I think it just makes you buy more food. That spit-fresh meat is irresistible and you can literally see the juicing trickling from both the chicken and the beef. I can't tell which meat I like best. The Beef Plate is the best thing I've eaten this month, and the mendi rice itself is a standout. Mom makes the Hummus, and it is to die for. Both meats make an amazing Shawarma as well. I'm a huge fan of these pickles. They also have fresh Baklava at the counter sometimes. Take advantage if they do. A small shop in a random Gardena strip mall, a hidden gem for sure. Highly recommend. ”
“ The chicken shawarma is excellent. Super tasty and filling without being too salty or greasy. They are cooking the meat right there behind the counter so you know it is fresh. Plus I really like the pita bread with red sauce inside. With the plate, there is a choice of rice or fries but the rice is really good. The portions are generous and at a good price. The first time we went there, they gave us a sample of the chicken and beef to try. Everyone there is super friendly and they prepare the food quickly. The one downside is the location and ambiance. On the past two visits there have been homeless people digging through the trash and pacing back and forth in front of the store. So now, I prefer to just get my food to go. It still tastes great! ”
“ So good! Hard to find this level of authenticity in the South Bay. I think they are Syrian. Family run and always very sweet. Flavor is on point. I have had their beef/lamb shawarma and chicken. The baba ghanoush is soooo good. I always ask if I can get it with my plate instead of the hummus and salad instead of fries. Once they ran out of chicken shawarma at the end of the night and I was waiting for a pretty long time. Because of the inconvenience they gave me an ENTIRE rotisserie chicken LOL. Def didn't have to but it was a nice gesture. It was very well seasoned and stuffed with bay leaves, lemon and other seasonings. Good option if you're trying to feed lots of people. They also have a free ice cream machine if you want some after your meal. Their hot sauce and toum are both good as well! Plenty of parking. ”
